Thriving, Not Just Surviving in '25
An attempt to follow, or should I say evaluate, the stars in 2025. Yes, I am talking about astrology.
So, I’m finally deciding to do my something with a project idea I had a number of years ago where I would take each day's horoscope and break down what it said and compare it to what actually happened. I tried this in 2023 and was logging daily scopes from 4 favorite astrologists, but it became too much to manage by June. Every morning, I would copy and paste the 4 predictions into a Word doc and then go back at the end of the day to see if any of them were accurate or way off base by writing a couple of paragraphs for each about how the day played out.
This was an idea that every November I would dredge up from my list of ideas to write about and then when I hadn’t started by mid-January, I would toss it back on the pile, only to have it tug at me every week or so and give me a chance to annoy myself for another abandoned “big idea”.
So, 2023 became the year that I decided that I was going to stick to it, and I did, for a while. I was pretty diligent about logging all of the entries for that day, looking to see if there were any similarities between them, read through the monthlies to pull out any important dates, and then add those dates to my Word doc. There was even some color-coding happening.
What wound up happening is that the document became very long and hard to jump back and forth to notice trends and accuracies. It was not difficult, but it was time-consuming to visit all four websites I was using, copy each day’s forecast into my doc, update the copy’s format, and then write about each entry.
The time factor, and the fact that I had to hit a hard pause in June because I had a surgery and its recovery to deal with, really put an end to 2023’s plan.
What I did get out of that first attempt was sense of what did and didn’t work about the way I was logging and writing, and which of the four astrology sites seemed to be the most accurate. There were two that always seemed to have more relevance than the others, but one of them decided to retire and is no longer putting out monthly horoscopes. I miss her. She was great and had a great way of presenting her information.
So, off I go to “thrive and survive in ‘25”. My new - actually two new writing projects to attend to - are on track as of today (January 3, 2025). The other one is where I attempt to cook 26 new recipes from 26 countries - two per month - from A-to-Z. The first recipe is from Armenia.
I am a Virgo sun on the Virgo/Libra cusp, with Pisces rising, and a Virgo moon. I normally just read Virgo, but sometimes I will read Pisces, because your rising (also called the ascendant) sign is just as important as your sun sign, especially when there are movements or other important celestial dates and movements happening in your other important placements like rising and moon. This is my birth chart, which I really can’t read much of, and a graphic of what “house” represents. I do know from my chart that I have a lot of placements (including minor ones) in Virgo, Aries, and Scorpio. If you have three or more placements in an area of your chart, they are called stelliums, and they are also signs you should look out for when reading your forecasts.
If you are interested to know your three main placements, you can easily Google free birth charts to find out more about your signs and other placements. For the best results you will need your birth date, exact time, and city and state where you were born (and you might need to give your email address).
So here’s my simplified methodology:
For this project, I am going to focus only on Virgo scopes.
I will log the daily forecasts in my brand new Word doc and then write a short paragraph or two about how the day went with regard to the forecast.
I will also do a deeper dive into the monthly report and pull out any dates to keep in mind and important themes to be aware of.
I may do some kind of weekly or monthly roundup here on kimchantment at the end of each month, I am not sure yet.
I have decided to use the Astrotwins as my main astrologers for this project. They are twin sisters who are the founders of AstroStyle and the astrologers in Elle magazine. They were also always the most accurate when I started this back in 2023. You can also find their birth chart builder here.
I will try and post every day to BlueSky (you can follow me there if you’d like), but I will not be posting the text of each day’s horoscope because I don’t want to tread into any potential copyright issues. But what I will do is add phrases or sentences from the forecasts in quotes that I think are relevant along with my commentary. The Astrotwins publish their horoscopes for free on their websites.
I don’t make any assertions that I know how to read charts, or even what all the signs and symbols and movements mean. I am a dabbler. But I do know what Mercury in Retrograde is, and you should, too. Especially if your sign is ruled by Mercury, which mine is.
This format may change. I am treating this as a creative endeavor, with no real goal in mind at the moment except for consistency, and from time to time I might decide to tweak it or add or subtract to it.
Probably no one will read this anyway, so what the hell. I am going to make it up as I go along…
Cheers and stars and signs to a happy and healthy 2025.
